A Bath locksmith has a secure future after qualifying for a sought-after quality mark.Phil Jenkins, 41, a partner in city firm Bath Safe and Security, has been given the master locksmith qualification in recognition of his skills in the trade.
The day-long test involved a theory exam, as well as practical elements such as lockfitting, lock opening and making a key from scratch.
Mr Jenkins, who lives in Combe Down and has been a locksmith for 25 years, is one of only two people in Bath to have the award, the other being Bath Safe and Security employee John Pyecroft.
He was awarded the highest mark in the exam, and said: "It is a difficult exam, and is something I have dreamed about for years.
"When I first heard about the exam it seemed quite daunting, but I had to have a go.
"This gives people a sense of security and reassurance, as we are qualified and know what we are doing."
The firm, in Monmouth Place, was set up in 2004 as a sister company to Bath Lock and Key.
